Ida M. Reid

Ida Marie Reid nee Halm, of St John, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023, at age 59. Formerly from Chicago Heights and Crete, Illinois. She was the beloved wife of John Edward Reid. Loving mother of Ryan (Samantha;) and Eric (Jessica) Reid. Grandmother of Oliver and (soon to be) Grandbaby number two. Loving sister of James Halm and Mark (Jean) Halm and aunt of Dan Halm and Mary Halm.

Ida attended St Kieran's Elementary school and was a lifelong parishioner of St Kieran's Church. She graduated from Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights. She attended University of St Francis in Joliet, Illinois where she earned her first bachelor's degree, and Governor State University where she earned her second bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She spent the next twenty-two years as a Speech Pathologist at Matteson School District 162 where she loved working with young children.

Ida was the sister-in-law of Thomas Reid, Mark (Carolyn) Reid, Pamela (Raymond) Zanocco, Nancy (Garry) Van Kerken, Rosemary (Thomas) Herweck, Kevin (Maria) Reid, Suzanne Reid, Kathleen (Denis) Baird, Carol (Robert) Prete, Robert (Elena) Stewart, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James, and Josephine Halm. Mother-in-Law, Rosemary Reid Stewart; Fathers in law, Thomas Reid Sr, and Joseph Stewart. Sister in laws, Kathleen Peters Reid, and Joan Daly Reid; and niece Laura Reid.

Visitation Thursday July 27, 3-8:00 pm at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home; 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Funeral Friday, July 28, 10:45 am prayers at the Funeral Home to St. Kieran Church Mass 11:30 am. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
