Helen "Judy" Bendle (née Duffy), age 87, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Novi, Michigan. Though her final days were spent in Michigan, her heart remained in Chicago Heights, Illinois - a place she deeply loved and called home for so many years. Born on August 11, 1938, in Saint Joseph, Michigan, Judy lived a life defined by compassion, faith, and unwavering devotion to those around her.
Judy was the beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Bendle and the cherished daughter of the late John and Helen Duffy. She was also preceded in death by her brother Dennis Duffy and sister Kathy Silkaitis. Her legacy continues through her loving children: Thomas Bendle (Kirsten), Beth Habben (Doug), Jill Tumney (Bill), Linda Weber (Mike), and John Bendle (Lori).
She was the proud Nana of Ashley Autrey (Shawn), Bobby Bendle (Hillary), Joshua and Kielyn Bendle, Taylor and Ashley Romani, Adam Habben, Kate Habben-Liu (Tre), Erin Giokas (Nick), Kaitlyn Tumney (Jacob), Meghan Gezo (Mike), Chelsea Weber-Golles (Adrienne), Kieran, Connor, and Ella Bendle. In her later years Judy was blessed with having 7 great grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life; Maxine and Lucy Gezo, Georgine Weber-Golles, Archie and Brooklyn Autrey, and Giles and Raine Romani. Judy also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Judy was an active member of St. Kieran Church in Chicago Heights, IL where she made many lifelong friends. She was involved in the Women's Club, and countless other social activities, including her favorite, BINGO. She was also the secretary at the rectory, a job she loved.
Judy's kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Whether among lifelong friends or those who met her only briefly, she was known for her warmth, loyalty, and selfless care. Her resilience carried her through life's challenges with grace and strength. She devoted herself entirely to caring for others - family, friends, and community alike - and did so with quiet dignity.
Her enduring friendships were a testament to the love she gave so freely. These bonds sustained her throughout her life and remained strong until the very end.
