Harry Sherrill

Harry Sherrill, age 79, a resident of Homewood for the past 52 years, passed away on December 21, 2022, after a short illness. He was born on December 1, 1943, in Harrisburg, Pa. to Joseph C. and Jean S. (Sommerville) Sherrill. A 1962 graduate of Rich East High School, he attended Carleton College and the University of Wisconsin. He is survived by a brother, Robert Sherrill of Franklin, Tenn., and a sister, Anne Deary of Virginia Beach, Va., and two nephews. An Air Force veteran who served honorably from 1964-1970, he worked on the research staff at Bacon's Information, Inc., retiring in 2005. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights, serving multiple terms on the Board of Deacons. He was a devoted music lover who was a member of several choral groups, including the Park Forest Singers, the Grande Prairie Singers and the South Suburban Chorale, and was also a Chicago sports fan. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28 at the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights, 10th and Thomas Sts., Chicago Heights.
