Gertrude Shap

Gertrude J. Shap, nee Burtlano, age 89 formerly of Homewood, died on Monday, November 4, 2024. Trudy now joins in peace her husband of 58 years, Vincent A. Shap, her son John and the many dogs she had over the years.

She is survived by her son Gary (Cynthia), her grandchildren Jason, Tyler, Ethan and Graham and her brothers Eugene (Barbara) and Mike (Tracey) Weiler and her sister Candace (Dennis) Johnson.

Trudy was a long time customer service professional and an avid sports fan, especially of football and baseball. And in her later years she learned and loved the game of lacrosse. She also was a big music fan, from the blues and Queen to Broadway musicals. She was loved by family and friends for her no nonsense love, support and humor and was always willing to help out when in need.

A memorial service will be held at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18022 Dixie Highway in Homewood on Sunday, December 15 from 10:00-12:00.
