Gay C, Weaver of Frankfort, IL passed away peacefully at Silver Cross Hospital on November 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank L. Weaver in 2014 and daughter Kelly Weaver in 2015. She is survived by her two other children, son, Jeff Weaver of Homewood, IL and daughter Suzanne (Weaver) Root of Leland, NC, as well as her three grandchildren, grandson Justin Moore of Showlow, AZ, granddaughter Brittany Weaver of Beaverton, OR and granddaughter Molly Weaver of Frankfort, IL. Gay is also survived by her brother Richard Griffith of Amery, WI, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.
Gay C. Griffith was born February 2, 1937 to Leslie and Lillian (Bedow) Griffith in Lynd, Minnesota. On September 6, 1958, she married the love of her life Frank L. Weaver and lived happily married for 56 years before he preceded her in death in July 2014.
Once all of her children started attending school full time and after talking with another mother at her son's Cub Scout meeting in 1972, she decided a career in real estate could possibly be the ideal career that would allow her to contribute to the family finances while remaining flexible enough to work around home and family, that would allow flexibility so she could remain involved in her children's activities rarely missing a little league game or a Camp Fire Girl's meeting/outing..
Shortly after obtaining her license in real estate, and by being a people person by nature, Gay discovered how much she enjoyed helping others by finding the right home that fit the needs and desires of her clients without breaking their budgets. With her hard work and dedication to her profession, she quickly excelled as a real estate broker and in 1980 she was invited to join RE/MAX South Suburban later to become RE/MAX Synergy where she continued to thrive until her recent death.
Known for her warm personality, Gay not only positively affected people in her professional life, she was also a positive influence to so many in her community, not only to her family but also to anyone who was in need, albeit a friend or a friend of one of her children, she was always stepping up to help in any way she could whether it was providing temporary shelter, providing a hand up or simply being a shoulder to cry on. She had a heart of gold giving to others never expecting anything in return. She always looked at the bright side of life and led by example. Her love for others and her integrity of character was an inspiration to all who crossed paths with her. She was a treasured friend to many, a devoted mother and wife who took joy in the joy of others. Quick witted and down to earth, Gay's favorite moments in life were spent in front of the fire with family and friends.
