Frank D. Wendt (Essig) a devoted husband, loving father, amazing son and cherished friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 3, 2024 at the age of 48. Born at Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, he was the beloved husband of Stephanie Troiani-Wendt of 21 years (26 years together). Frank will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, dedication to his family and his lifelong passion for DJing (Glenwood Roller Rink). He is survived by his wife Stephanie, children Kayla Troiani-Wendt, Emily Mae Wendt, Oliver Wendt, parents Robert and Gail (Essig) Wendt of Tennessee.
In addition Frank is survived by his sisters Sharon Fowler (Kevin) of Tennessee and Crystine Wendt of Tennessee and was preceded in death by his brother Willis Wood (previously of Homewood). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Frank was a service manager for State Mechanical Services and was a union pipefitter for local 597. He was previously employed at the Village of University Park as their electrician, certified pool operator and much more he was also an AFSCME Union member and rep. Frank never stopped learning new things by continuing his education and receiving numerous awards. He lovingly donated his time at South Suburban Humane Society with immense passion for the animals. He also volunteered for Mt Zion Ministries handing out food to people in need. Many will remember him for his selfless acts of kindness handing out food from our own driveway food giveaways.
