Francis J. Jedlicka Jr.

Francis (Jed) Jedlicka of Chicago Heights passed away peacefully at home on February 11th, 2025. Jed was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Postma). Loving Father to Francis III (Carrie McClure) and James (Alison Armbruster). Proud Grandfather of Jack, Gavin, Mick and Bradley. Brother of Michael (Martha), brother-in-law to Richard, Jill and Julie.

Jed was preceded in death by his parents Francis Sr. and Barbara Jedlicka, parents in law Frank and Christine Postma, sister-in-law Barbara Haan, Brothers in law Douglas and Gregory.

Fun loving uncle to 11 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. He never skipped an opportunity to enjoy the numerous ball games, dance recitals, plays and other fun activities. Jed was never a stranger to opening his home to family for any reason. Many family members viewed it as their second home. Everyone in the family loved their "Uncle Jed."

Grandpa Jed was never happier than when he was at the ice rink cheering on #9 or 88. Jed never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren in all their activities. Whether he was cuddling up for a movie or just being a sympathetic ear, Gavin, Mick and Brad always felt his love and warmth. Countless hours were spent at T-ball, baseball and soccer fields, ice rinks and grandparents' days at school. He passed on his love of coin collecting, reading and music to his grandkids as they carry on his passion and legacy.

Jed had a servants' heart, serving as cub master to pack 320 for close to a decade, little league coach, youth group leader and pads volunteer. He was also an avid reader, spending countless hours escaping to different worlds and realities via his love of literature. He enjoyed music, both listening and performing. He was a music leader in worship at Faith Lutheran Church playing his guitar and singing a variety of worship music.

In 2020, Jed began showing symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. For 5 years he journeyed through the challenges of the illness with strength, perseverance and faith. He was supported by his devoted and loving family.

A service in memory of Jed will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Homewood, IL on March 1st, 2025 at 1030 am. A fellowship luncheon will follow afterwards.

In lieu of flowers donations to south suburban Pads ( https://www.sspads.org ) or St. Rita Hockey program ( stritahs.com ) would be appreciated.
