Florence “Trudy” Taylor passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Trudy was born July 15th, 1933, in Chicago. She was the daughter Catherine and James Grogan. Her brothers and sister, who preceded her in death, were James, Walter and Patricia. She married her loving husband, Jack, in 1954 and she became Mom to Kathy (Terry), Dan (Lori), John (Lorrie) and Bill (Jennifer). Sadly, Jack passed away at 91 after 60 years of marriage and Bill passed away at the age of 57.
Trudy made the Taylor home the house all the kids liked to visit. They would be greeted with a glass of orange juice and some cookies or other treats. She was the mom that drove all the kids to school, to sports games and to the pool. She was the cub scout mom, the little league mom running the concession stand and one of the ladies that wrapped the hot dogs for hot dog day. Trudy loved to host parties, especially, Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day parties. The more people that attended, the happier she was. She loved to cook the food and make sure everyone came back for seconds. She liked to be connected. She loved to call people and get calls, too. As many of her family and friends passed away, those phone calls became less frequent. So, when she got a call, it became that much more meaningful to her.
Trudy worked outside her home for much of her life. Her first job was as a clerk a a dress shop, then later as an account clerk at Standard Oil, bookkeeping at a few banks, and later in life a bakery clerk and a product demonstrator at Sam’s Club. Throughout her life, she taught her children how to work hard, but also how to be kind and compassionate to others. She truly was a very special lady.
Trudy is also survived by her grandchildren: Rob, Terry, Mike, Dan, Kelly, Christina and Jonathan. and her great grandchildren: Ashley, Thomas, Deirdre, Ryan, Lainie, Audrey, Theo, Scarlett, Caroline and Adeline.
