Eric Richard Mason passed away on August 23, 2026 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, IL

Eric was born on October 11, 1989 at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, IL to Raymond and Cynthia. He became a big brother to his sister Sarah about 2 1/2 years later.

As a child he loved to play baseball, soccer, basketball and of course, video games. He enjoyed riding his skateboard and BMX bike trying to master many tricks. He was a bright student at St. Lawrence O’Toole School and Marian Catholic High School. He was stubborn but naturally smart. He loved history and liked art. He loved living in Chicago and was a huge fan of the White Sox and Bears.

Eric was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Union Local 21 since August 1, 2016. He was a Ceramic Tile Finisher and worked for a number of companies over his career and most recently with Bourbon Tile & Marble. He loved rock music and his favorite bands were Tool and Nirvana. He loved mastering their songs on his bass guitar. He loved building computers in his spare time. He loved spending time with his girlfriend of 6 years, Kristen and his dog Oscar who was his constant companion at home.

He is cherished by his remaining family Father Raymond (and wife Dawn Mason), Mother Cynthia (and husband Steven Watters), Sister Sarah (and husband Nick LePore) and their children Kinsley and Mason, Grandparents Norman and Darris Bates, Great-Great Grandmother Mildred Knight, Step Sister Arien (and husband Ricky Olson) and their children Colin and Haley, Step Brother Troy DeSouza and his children Keeley and Griffin, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In his final act of generosity, Eric was able to give the gift of life to several recipients through organ donation with the Gift of Hope program.

The family will hold a celebration of life for family and friends at Gatto's Restaurant  8005 W. 183rd St., Tinley Park, on Saturday September 12, from 11am until 3pm. . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Northwestern Memorial Hospital Cardiac Unit, Chicago IL
