Eileen R. Schumann

Eileen Rita Schumann (née McCarthy), January 25, 2023, age 94, a 57 year resident of Flossmoor, beloved wife of the late Jack A. Schumann, Sr.; mother of Marguerite, Karen, Laura, Robert Mark, Joseph Francis, Robert Gustave, Stephanie, Christine, Marianne, Jack Arthur Jr., Paul, and Adam; grandmother "Nani" of Matthew, Robert, Alison, Stephanie, Daniel, Thomas, Michael, David, Mark, Joseph, Jessica, Jack Arthur III, Mia, Nicole, and Jillian; great grandmother of John, Katelyn, Harper, Shae, Alexander, Charlotte, Dallas, Ducati, Eli, Ava, Emma, and Colton; daughter of Francis L. McCarthy and Stephanie Belinski; sister of William and Robert McCarthy.

Eileen was working on her degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management at the University of Chicago when she met the love of her life and they began their sentimental journey together.  She always valued learning and believed that her education helped her to successfully raise their large family.  She loved her children and reminded them continuously that they would not be here if it wasn't for her, a tradition she carried on with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic and longtime member of Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church. She also loved gardening and walking with her family through her gardens. Eileen spent countless hours cooking wonderful meals for her family. It always made her happy to be able to see all the way to Olympia Fields Country Club from her kitchen window. She enjoyed tennis and played it into her eighties. Seeing her family grow and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her deep joy in her later years. Blue jays and cardinals kept watch in her beloved garden during the snowy day on which she passed through the gates of heaven.  She leaves an indelible legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and the enjoyment they shared in so many cherished and lively family gatherings.
