Eileen C Kane (Bell) passed away peacefully on Thursday June 3rd at the age of 92. She was from Dixon, IL and formerly of Dolton, IL.
Eileen (aka, Auntie Ei, Gma, Mommmmmmy) was born on the family farm outside Ottawa, IL on January 18th, 1929 and after moving to Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood, attended Fenger High School. Eileen was a hairdresser for many years and worked in the South suburbs until she retired in 1990. In 1994, Eileen and her husband Bob Kane, built their dream home in the Lost Lake area of Rochelle, IL near Dixon.
Eileen and her husband Bob raised their family of five children in Dolton, Illinois. Eileen was part of the Drexel Dears and participated in Canasta Nights, cookie swaps and bowling. She was the ultimate Camping Mom when touring the Midwest art fairs with Bob, a watercolor artist. Eileen loved watching soccer and cheering for the Bulls 2 "Three Peats", often while on the phone with her sister Bette, who also lived in Lost Lake.
Wonderfully independent, Eileen stayed in Lost Lake after Bob passed in 1996, making new friends in the area. She participated in the Neighborhood Association garage sales, fundraisers and continued her art of crocheting and knitting the many cherished and coveted afghans. She was also an active member of the Lost Lake Community Church.
Eileen will be remembered for many things: her generosity, quick wit and ready laugh, her love for her family and friends, those afghans, "Oh Hey Wow", Liver Dip, the world's longest Gin Rummy game, playing Uno with George and Kay, "Did you pack the stakes/steaks", cutting the hair of most every neighbor and child on Drexel, and "pinking" anyone that warranted it!
Eileen joins Bob, her lifelong companion and husband, her parents, Roy Bell and Evangeline Bell, brothers Bill Bell and Bob Bell, sister Bette, and nephews Patrick Bell and Teunie Kranenburg in heaven.
Eileen is survived by her son Paul (Lynn Wire), daughter Rene, son Larry (Kathy Sullivan), son Kevin (Laura Hess), son Terry (Erica Levin), sister in law Pat Bell, grandchildren David (Kristen), Taylor(Adrian), Amelia (Tom), Jordan, Madeline, Alisha, Sophie, Charlie and Neve, great grandchildren Declan and Mason, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was so loved and will be dearly missed by many.
A very special thank you to the best neighbors in Lost Lake, Barb and Mark Weise, without their care, concern, friendship and love, we would have been lost.
Eileen will be laid to rest alongside her husband Bob at Lincoln National Cemetery. A private memorial service will be planned at a later date.
