Edward F. Peters

Edward Frank Peters passed away peacefully on Monday July 24, 2023, at the age of 89 years old. He was born on January 10, 1934, to Angeline and Frank Peters of Chicago, IL. He is survived by his five children: Michael (Sandra) Peters of Naperville, IL, John Peters of Johns Island, SC, Susan Peters of Oak Lawn, IL, Steven (Lisa) Peters of Normal, IL, and James Peters of Chicago, IL. Six grandchildren: Michael, Natalie, Joseph, Mathew, Kyrie, and Elijah, and one great-grandchild Charlie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Sally Peters, brother, Frank (Doris) Peters, and sisters, Florence (Adrian) Kozy and Dorothy (Drew) Hagen.

A devoted husband and father who was intrigued by history, loved having lively discussions with people and often made them laugh. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, and worked for U.S. Steel Corporation until retiring in 1999. He was passionate about exploring the world, especially Europe. He also loved nature and enjoyed playing tennis. He was a devout Catholic and very active in the Church.

Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home. Visitation on Friday August 4, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Prayers will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass at St. John Neumann Church (formerly Saint Joseph Church) at 11:00 am. Private inurnment at a future date.
