Donna M. Kivland

Donna Marie Kivland of Plainfield, IL passed away on January 6, 2024 at the age of 83.  She was born in Chicago on August 16, 1940, the only child of Edward and Margene (Berry) Kingsmill.  A graduate of Bowen High School, she attended Beverly Business College in Chicago and Thornton Community College and had a successful career as an Executive Secretary and Director of Human Resources in the south suburbs.  In 1960 she married Francis (Jack) Kivland and when her daughters came along, she focused on her family and raising her children.  Donna was an avid singer, belonging to the women's chorus The Chansonettes, and a member of St. John's Parish Choir and St. Joseph's Funeral Choir.  She was a talented seamstress, crocheter and cross stitcher who always had a project in the works. Donna and her husband traveled to all 50 States by train, plane, boat but mostly automobile.  She was an enthusiastic theater goer and even liked attending the opera with her cousin.  Donna loved to learn, read everything she could get her hands on and kept up on current events.  But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Donna is survived by her daughter Kay (Dan) Moore, her four granddaughters Laura (Conor) Strejcek, Deanna Moore, Ariana King and Malaya King and her two great grandsons, Ellis and August.  Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Francis (Jack) Kivland and her beloved eldest daughter Mary (Alan) King.

Memorial visitation will be held at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL 60430, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 10:00 am. followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 am.
