Dean Zajicek January 13, 1953 – October 3, 2024
It is with great sadness that I share that my cherished husband, Dean passed away on 10/3/24. We were married for 45 years and we shared a long, loving life together for which I am so grateful. Dean was my life partner and best friend.
A 34-year resident of Homewood, Illinois, Dean was born in Chicago Heights to Frank and Mary Zajicek. He is survived by me, his wife, Barbara and his loving sisters, Beverly Zajicek Meuch and Lynn Zajicek Wetzel. He was a nephew, a brother-in-law, a cousin, an uncle and a friend to many. He was owner of Oak Street Studio and was an extraordinary artisan and craftsman who never stopped learning and was always creating. He was also an exceptional gardener.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University with B.A. degrees in Philosophy and Art.
Dean was a 25-year blood donor and as a final act of generosity, he donated his tissue and corneas to Gift of Hope.
A lover of nature and animals, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to Thorn Creek Nature Center, The Morton Arboretum, St. Jude's Children Research Hospital and Little Angels Service Dogs.
A memorial service at a forthcoming date will be held. For further information contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
