David Richard Schumann

David Richard Schumann, age 33 of Homewood, passed away on May 12, 2022.  David is the beloved son of Robert and Sheryl Schumann and adored brother and best friend to Michael.  Dear grandson to Richard and the late Arlene Daugherty and the late Jack and Eileen Schumann.  He is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and countless dear friends.

David graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.  Member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He went on to become the Financial Systems Analyst for Regional Recovery Services.

David enjoyed golf, music, all things sports and his beloved dog, Kelly.  He had an incredible passion for cooking.   When he wasn't watching the White Sox in his backyard, he would trade the cool summer breeze for the warm familiarity of his kitchen.   While most people were cooking hot dogs or hamburgers on a late evening in July, David was cooking filet mignon, ginger garlic chicken and grilled lobster.

David was a kind soul, and an extraordinary son, brother and friend.  He was the cement that held his friends together and was the type of remarkable individual that put others before himself.  It is no coincidence that a majority of David's loved ones and friends know each other today because he first connected them.  It is a grand legacy that so few can claim—to leave behind such a large collection of people who owe their very friendship with each other to him.  He is alive in each of those connections.   Every heart he touched, every friendship made and every smile owed to his memory display the immeasurable mark he made on us.

David would have wanted us to celebrate his life.  He would have wanted everyone to raise a glass, hug each other, and for Cubs fans to cheer on the Sox, if only for a day.  He will be missed by a great many people.   We are all blessed to have had David Schumann in our lives.

A private family memorial service will be held.  For additional information contact  tews-ryanfh.com 708 798-5300
