David Hudson, age 84, passed away on May 2, 2025, in Thornton, Illinois. Born on August 22, 1940, in East St. Louis, Illinois, David lived a life marked by service, dedication, and creativity.
David served honorably in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962 as an Engineer Missile Equipment Specialist stationed at a missile base in Alaska. His military service reflected a lifelong commitment to responsibility and precision—qualities that would carry through into every chapter of his life.
Following his time in the Army, David built a successful career in sales with Lexington Steel and North American Steel. Known for his professionalism and work ethic, he contributed meaningfully to the industry over many years.
Beyond professional accomplishments, David was deeply involved in civic life. He served as both a Trustee and a member of the Planning Board for the Village of Thornton for twelve years. His leadership helped shape the community he called home, reflecting a strong sense of civic duty and pride.
He was also a longtime member of the Thornton American Legion Post and an active parishioner at St. Kieran Church in Chicago Heights. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, David continued to demonstrate his deep-rooted values of faith and service.
Creative expression played an important role throughout David's life. He found joy in painting and ceramics, often spending hours immersed in artistic pursuits. His love for flower gardening brought color and beauty to his surroundings, while his early achievements as a roller-skating champion spoke to a vibrant spirit that embraced both discipline and fun.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Arlene (Rotoloni); son David (Kristi) Hudson Jr., granddaughters Emily Hudson & Melanie Hudson, great grandchildren Levi & Mallorie, and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Marie Hudson; sons Doug and Danny, sister and three brothers.
May David Hudson's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life well lived.
