David J Espinosa

David J. Espinosa, 90, of Crete left us on Saturday, July 10 as stoically and lovingly as he lived his life.  David was born in DePue Illinois on February 19, 1931, to Theodoro and Eufemia Espinosa. He graduated from DePue high school and then served in the Army during the Korean War.  On June 30th, 1956, he married Agnes Rangel from Blue Island, who still lives in their home in Crete.

David taught his family the importance of hard work and commitment through his 30+ years as a steelworker.  He then took on a second career and retired from security services after 10+ years.  At the age of 67 he fully retired to enjoy his family, flowers, gardening, and bike riding.

David is also survived by his children, Ellyn (Philip) Jansen of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth (William) Beattie of Homewood, Cecilia David (Steven Beno), George (Ginny) Espinosa, Joseph Espinosa of Tinley Park.  He also was the super hero grandfather "Pops" to Nathaniel Leavitt, Erin Leavitt Reyna, Peyton Cypress, Cameron Cypress, Alexandra Beattie Bjorklund, Maklen Beattie, Dana Tarkowski, and Adrien David. Loving great-grandfather to Kage Leavitt, Miliano, Maximo, Mariano, and Elia Reyna, and Audrianna and Alexa Bjorklund.  He had many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, brothers, sisters and other relatives.

Memorial visitation for David will be held at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Hwy., Homewood, IL from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Prayers and military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m.
