Cherie (Kiepura) Garza, age 40, of Homewood, IL, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on September 13th, 2021.
Visitation will be held at Tews-Ryan funeral home on October 2nd from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with a service immediately to follow at 6:00 p.m. Masks are mandatory.
Cherie is a graduate of Marian Catholic High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Millikin University and went on to receive her master's degree from Governors State University. She has been a dedicated Reading Specialist in the Crete-Monee School District for the past 9 years. Previously, she taught in the Homewood and Chicago Heights School Districts. In addition, she was a motivational speaker, active member of Living Creek Christian Church, did mission work in Haiti and Kenya, and worked with colleagues to create SKALE (student kindness and leadership) club.
Cherie is the definition of beauty. Her compassionate and giving soul has touched countless lives. She was full of spunk, life, and above all, love. Her social butterfly ways were done with the intention of making everyone in the room feel loved and never alone. This translated even more to her marriage where she was a fervently devoted and loyal wife, always by her husband's side in good and bad. She lived a life of true devotion and servanthood to others; the love of Jesus was displayed in every aspect of her life. Her brightness left a shining star on everyone she crossed, and her legacy is one of devotion, loyalty, and above all, Christ's love. Her legacy does not just leave something for us; it leaves something in us.
Cherie was preceded in death by her brother, Jacob Kiepura; her niece, Mya Preston; her maternal grandparents, Warren and Elizabeth Howes; and her paternal grandparents; Edward and Mary Kiepura.
She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Eirith; her parents Eugene and Jan (Howes) Kiepura; her sister and brother-in-law, Doug and Janene (Kiepura) Preston; her nieces, Julia and Molly Preston; and mother-in-law, Eslavia Garza.
