Charles Akai, Jr., age 91. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Beloved husband of Frances I. Liccar (Akai) and the late Rita J. Akai. Loving father of John (Julie) Akai, Mary (David) Kamis, James (Bonnie) Akai, Susan (David) Matz, David (the late Margaret Graeber-Akai) Akai, Nancy (Patrick) Boyle and Lisa Palermini (the late James Palermini) (Tim Kleist). Fond grandfather of 19 and great grandfather of 14. Stepfather of Edward (Mary Jo) Liccar, Michael (Debbie) Liccar, Joseph (Cathy) Liccar, and the late Laurie Cribari. Step-grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 11 ½. Brother-in-law to Nancy Powers and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles, Sr. and Elizabeth Akai, his sister Betty Jean Sabo (late Bob Sabo), sister-in-law Mary Montag (late Ray Montag), and late Peter J. Powers. Charlie was a proud veteran of the USAF. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood Wednesday December 15, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Thursday with 9:30am prayers at the Funeral Home to St. Joseph Church, 17951 Dixie Highway, Homewood.
