Charles W. (Chuck) Gray, born May 24, 1956, died suddenly on January 14, 2025 at age 68. He was a longtime Homewood, IL resident.
Chuck was one of six beloved sons of the late Dalton and Ida Gray of Park Forest, IL and Hot Springs Village, AR.
He is survived by his wife Linda Kuta Gray; brothers John (the late Karen), Dalton James, David (Marybel), Steven (the late Nancy), Michael (Mary); many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Chuck studied French horn at Indiana University and was an accomplished musician in many concert bands, orchestras, and brass ensembles. He was Principal Horn in the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra for 25 years. Chuck was a founding member of the RA Brass quintet and played with that group for over 50 years. He performed with numerous other groups, most recently the Southwest Community Concert Band and the New Lenox Community Band. His weekly rehearsals with the guys in the RA Brass meant the world to him. Their unwavering support, friendship and encouragement greatly uplifted and sustained Chuck through his recent health challenges.
A Celebration of Life for Chuck will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at the Dolphin Lake Clubhouse, 2700 W 183rd St (at Governors Hwy), Homewood, IL.
