Catherine H. Mitchell nee Wittl, age 101, of Gilbert, AZ. Formerly of Hazel Crest, Illinois. Cherished wife of the late James Mitchell and loving mother of Nancy (John Williams) Pass, Carol, Marty (Beth), Jim (Girlie), Joannie (Gary) Walker, Michael (Lori), Matt, Billy, and the late Judy Mitchell. Dear sister of Genevieve Nash, Eleanor Kelly, Lurline Anderlik, Claude Wittl, Marjorie Wittl, Muriel Hart, Theresa Lollack, Celine Savage, and Charles Wittl; cherished grandmother of Rick (Jamie Lynn) Pass, Jamie (Karin) Pass, Mike (Raquel) Pass, Kelly (Matt) Kroeger, Diane Mitchell, Kristy (Bryan) Wood, Chuck Mitchell, Sara Mitchell, Reilly Mitchell, and Casey Mitchell; great-grandmother of Tre Pass, Robbie Pass, Maya Pass, Cody Pass, Tyler Pass, Carson Pass, Kaitlyn Pass, Carson Kroeger, Quinn Kroeger, Jaxson Mitchell, Kaylie Mitchell, and Connor Mitchell
She was devoted to her family and loved every new arrival into the world. She was an amazing woman raising her nine children while maintaining her pristine home, and movie star looks. As a child growing up in Chicago, she cherished her summer vacations in South Haven, Michigan, shared with her parents and nine siblings. Her home was her sanctuary. She loved to decorate both inside and outside her home, from adding accent pieces and pillows to planting beautiful new flowers every spring in her garden. She had a fondness for dancing and left a lasting impression wherever she went. Her husband referred to her as "Lady Catherine". She was his queen and his gem.
Visitation Friday, June 16, from 9:00AM to 10:15AM at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, Illinois followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. at St. John Neumann Parish (formerly St. Joseph Church), 17951 Dixie Hwy. Interment Assumption.
