Betty Arnold

Betty F. Arnold (née Emerson), 93 of Chesterton, IN passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023.  Beloved wife of the late Phillip Arnold, proud mother of Kathleen (Tom) Henricks, Susan (Tom) Harrison, & Phillip (Jacque) Arnold.  Loving grandmother of Danielle (Mark) Schultz, Amanda (Kevin) Welsh, Eric Lester, Tara (Brian) McCarthy, and great grandmother of Elizabeth, Katie, and Cyrus Schultz, Gwen Lester and Aiden McCarthy.  Step-grandmother to Elizabeth (John) Reynolds, Allyson (Matt) Wagner, and step great-grandmother to Celeste and Connor Coughlin, and Jase Reynolds.  Preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Emerson, brothers Archie Emerson, Ron (Barbara) Emerson.  Survived by sister-in-law Maria Emerson (Archie) and many loving nieces and nephews.

Betty was born on October 8, 1929, and was raised by her parents in the Jeffrey Manor neighborhood of south Chicago. She graduated from Bowen High School in 1947.  Betty married the love of her life, Phil, in 1948 and remained so until his death in 2003.  In addition to being a loving mother, Betty had a career as a medical data entry clerk until she retired.  She enjoyed crocheting and sewing and made many beautiful items throughout the years for her loved ones.   Her true joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.   Betty was loved by all who knew her and was kind and accepting to all she met.

Family will greet guests at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held.  Interment will be private.
