Bernard Henry Van Etten, Jr., Age 87. Born December 16, 1933, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2021. Devoted and loving husband for 59 years of Sharon Van Etten nee Birdsall. Loving Father of 8 children, Susan (Kerry) Pikal, Mary Pat (William) Drew, Lori (Peter) O'Connor, Bernard Van Etten III, Michael (Mary Elizabeth) Van Etten, Amy (Kevin) Rappel, Becky (Thomas) Cheney, Thomas (Barbara) Van Etten, Proud Grandpa of 21 grandchildren, Katie and Jack Ziltz, Billy and Maggie Drew, Nora, Clare and Owen O'Connor, Henry, Kelly, Charlie, Timmy, Jack and Annie Van Etten, James and Grace Rappel, Megan, Kathleen and Tommy Cheney, Bridget, Maeve and Kate Van Etten. Preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Kathleen Van Etten, sister Marjorie and brother Jack, Loving brother of Kathleen (Jack) Hall, Elaine (Emmet) Cassidy, Nancy (Tony) Haske. Brother in law of Eddie (Jan) Birdsall and Kathleen Van Etten. Fond Uncle Bro to many nieces and nephews, Many cherished friends, including 1956 ND Classmates and neighbors from Glenwood, Homewood, Crete and Marco Island. Resident of Crete, IL, Graduate of Leo High School, and University of Notre Dame Class of 56 Served 2 years in the US Army. Loyal Chicago sports fan who attended hundreds of White Sox and Notre Dame games. Owner of Galloy & Van Etten and Murphy Marble Stone Contractors, a fourth generation family business founded by his grandfather in 1899. Visitation at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S.
