Barbara Scherzinger

Barbara Marie Scherzinger (nee Bonaparte), 80 years old of Dyer, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15.  Barb was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Jerry Scherzinger.  She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Theresa) Scherzinger and Greg (Donna) Scherzinger.  Proud grandmother of Alexis (Jacob) McCullough, Jennifer Scherzinger, Sydney Scherzinger and Gregory Scherzinger, Jr.

Barb attended Fenger High School and worked in a few clerical or retail jobs, her main occupation and labor of love, was taking care of her two sons and husband as a stay at home mother/wife.  She spent a great deal of time at the Piscateer's Club where she was active in planning children's parties and volunteered in helping with events.  Barb was an avid boater, from her time as a teenager through her senior years and spent a lot of time boating on Lake Michigan.  She and Jerry were founding members of the Hammond Yacht Club and considered their boating friends as family.  Barb and Jerry spent their winter months in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and she especially enjoyed when the children and grandchildren would come and spent days with her there.

For those that knew her, one word that would come to mind is "fighter".  Having battled cancer and health issues, she was always able to flash that beautiful smile even when most people wouldn't be able to.  Her loss will be felt deeply by many dear relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 20 from 4-8 p.m. and a funeral service will be Thursday, October 21 at 11 a.m. at Tews-Ryan.
