Barbara M. Hill

Barbara M. Hill was born on February 27,1940 in Gary, Indiana to Dominic J. Bay and Marcella (Walsh) Bay. Raised in Chicago and Riverdale with her brother, Dennis Bay, she began her teaching career in 1961 as a School Sister of Notre Dame in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1969, Barbara joined Infant Jesus of Prague Parish in Flossmoor, Illinois where she taught primarily fourth and fifth grade until 2005. Barbara married Bertrom "Bert" Hill in 1974 and raised their daughter Bridget (Hill) Wachtel in Homewood, Illinois, where she continued to live until her passing on December 23, 2020. Barbara is remembered for her kind disposition, her love of teaching, children, animals and music and her devout faith. Barbara is survived by her daughter Bridget (Kevin) Wachtel and four grandchildren, Amelia, Ollie, Charlie and Nora Wachtel, her sister-in-law Thea (late Dennis) Bay, as well as her nieces, Barbara Ann Bay, Denise (Bay) Schlemmer and Danielle (Bay) Shaw and their children. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 29, at 11 am at Infant Jesus of Prague Church in Flossmoor. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood.
