Ashley Irene Ottmann was born on October 21, 1977, to William (Bill) Ottmann and Lois (Pommier) Ottmann at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. She was lovingly known by her dad as "Mouse" from that time on.
Ashley lived in Minot and started school at McKinley Elementary. Ashley and her mom moved to Flossmoor, IL in 1985. Ashley attended Western Avenue Elementary School, Parker Junior High School and graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 1996. Ashley excelled in volleyball during high school, where she played middle hitter for the Vikings.
After graduation, Ashley obtained a full ride scholarship to play volleyball at Arizona State University. Ashley played middle blocker for the Sun Devils, being one half of the "Twin Towers" with her friend Laura Hibsman. She attended Arizona State from August 1996 - December 2000 and graduated with a bachelor's degree.
After college, Ashley lived in Las Vegas for a few years before moving to Southern California. Ashley always lived her life to the fullest and these years were filled with fun and adventure.
Ashley moved back to Flossmoor in 2010 and started her cleaning business "White Tornado". She loved the people she worked for and helped them with cleaning as well as organizing their homes. Ashley also was a caregiver and did respite care for people in the area. It was during this time that Ashley started dating Mike Butler.
Ashley also coached volleyball at Prairie State College and Governors State University when she moved back to Flossmoor.

A Memorial Visitation and Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood IL.
