Annie W. Greene of Country Club Hills entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, following a brief illness. She was born on December 18, 1934, in Orlando, Florida. She was one of eight children of the late Luther and Rosie Belle Willis. She was a graduate of New Britain High School located in New Britain, Connecticut. After graduating from high school, she went on to study nursing at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut where she received her registered nursing license.

Annie met her loving husband, Glenn L. Greene, Sr. in 1955 and they were married in 1959 following a four-year courtship. During this 43-year marriage, three sons were born: Glenn Jr. in 1960, Byron in 1964 and Gregory in 1966. She worked full time as a delivery room nurse at Misericordia Hospital in Bronx, New York for many years. While working full time and raising a family, she found time to enroll herself in Lehman College, Bronx, New York. Her hard work and tireless efforts were realized when she graduated from Lehman College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in June 1978. The family moved to Country Club Hills, Illinois in 1978. Annie worked as a medical representative for the Travelers Corporation until her retirement in 1995. Annie also served as president of the Sigma Omega Quettes. Quettes  are nationally recognized as wives and widows of the men of the Sigma Omega Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.

Annie leaves behind three sons to cherish her memory, Glenn Jr. (Adrienne), Byron and Gregory (Lynnette) and eight grandchildren, Shante, Mariah, Marquita, Gregory Jr., Glenn Christopher, Kelli, Gabrielle and Christian. Annie also had six great-grandchildren: Madison, Lyric, Denim, Kennedy, Morgan and MacKenzie. She also leaves behind her sister, Ruby Mitchell of Bloomfield, Connecticut and her brother, Joe C. Willis, Sr. of Charlotte, North Carolina and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Mary, Willie, Ada, and brothers, Clifford, James, and Luther Jr.

Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood on Monday August 30 from 3pm until time of service at 7 pm.

Homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at noon from the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave, New Britain, Connecticut. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, Connecticut. Relatives and friends may call at Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, Friday from 11 a.m. to noon.
