Anne Catherine Howe (née Nicholas), age 88, of Homewood, IL and Bayfield, WI, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024. Born on August 11, 1936, and married on May 19, 1956 to her beloved high school sweetheart, the late Raymond W. Howe. Anne was the glue of the family portraying endless love and generosity. She was cherished by all who knew her.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Anne's life was a testament to the power of unconditional love. She is survived by her sons James R. Howe (Pennie), William D. Howe, David W. Howe (Jamie), John R. Howe, and Steven R. Howe (Jessica); her brother James Nicholas, and her sister June Nicholas, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a proud grandmother to Stephanie Maresca, Raymond, Rachel, Michelle Graviett (Trey), William (Megan), Mathew (Jamie), Daniel (Molly), Nicholas (Zinthya), Kristi, Ryan (Megan), Nicole, Olivia, and Myles. She was a doting great-grandmother to Aubrey, Izaak, Ashton, Carter, August, Scarlett, Atlas and Mathew.
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond W. Howe; her son, Raymond J Howe; and her sister, Diana Duddleston.
Anne's life was marked by her love for reading, travel, cooking, crafts and wildlife. She had a love for painting, creating many ornaments, plaques and custom signs, leaving many cherished keepsakes for her family. An avid enthusiast of estate and garage sales, Anne had a unique eye for detail. She loved exploring new recipes, making every meal a delightful experience, not only with food but with laughter. She would not let you leave, no matter what time it was or who you were, without making sure you had a full belly. The public even had the honor of experiencing the great meals she could prepare as a cook earlier in her career. She spent many evenings with family and friends, playing games, doing puzzles, and coloring. She loved a good movie while having a bowl of popcorn "steaks".
A memorial for family and friends to celebrate Anne's life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church (Formerly St. Josephs) In Homewood, IL. At 10:00 a.m. The Tews-Ryan Funeral Home in Homewood, IL, is assisting the family with arrangements. Anne's legacy of love, commitment, and generosity will live on through all the lives she touched.
