Alice Cheryl Moore

Alice Cheryl Moore was born July 10, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, the 1st of 3 siblings, to the union of Levirt C. Moore, Sr. (Deceased) and Janice McKee. Alice was called to Heaven on July 4, 2023.

Alice attended Earhart & Warren Elementary Schools and graduated from Chicago Mero Magnet High School in Downtown Chicago in 1978. She was christened as a child at St. Mark U.M. Church, and as an adult, was a faithful member of Grace-Calvary UM Church for many years.

After high school, Alice continued to work at her part-time job at the Schubert Theater for a time, then decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy. After serving 3 years, she was honorably discharged. Several months later, Alice gave birth to her only child, Cheryl Diane Moore, who preceded her in death, in 2016.

After the Navy, Alice enrolled at Loyola University and earned a degree in accounting, beginning her over 30-year career with the state of Illinois. Her first job was with the IL Department of Employment Security, during which she met Reginald Harbut, and they married in 1996, becoming and remaining a family until 2003. Alice later transferred to the IL Department of Children & Family Services, working for that agency until she retired in 2022.

Alice will be fondly remembered for her work ethic, quiet demeanor, her loyal friendships, and her love of Afro-centric culture. She had a natural affinity for math and computer technology and spent her free time using them as instruments for volunteer work.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Janice McKee, 3 siblings, Levirt C. Moore, Jr (Valerie), Candice Saulsberry (Kenneth), & Kanika Smiley; 1 Nephew, Levirt Moore, IlI, 2 Nieces, Amanda Moore, Kira Saulsberry; 2 Aunts, Thelma Burkett & Beverly Augustus; several Great-Aunts & Uncles; and hosts of Cousins, relatives, and Friends.
