Marlin H. Leimnetzer, better known as Bud, born October 24, 1935. Passed away November 29, 2019 at the age of 84 following a brief illness. Upon his birth in Chicago, his Great-Grandfather started calling him Bud which stuck through his entire life. Bud was the middle child of the late William and Carrie, nee Artin. Bud was baptized and confirmed at Peace Memorial Church in Chicago. When Bud and his older brother, William Joseph (now deceased) were young boys, the family moved to Evergreen Park, IL where later their younger sister Melodee was born. Following graduation from grammar school in Evergreen Park, both Bill and Bud attended the Morgan Park Military Academy. Bud played football throughout his four years and joined the Grenadiers, an elite group of cadets trained in precision rifle marksmanship and marching, graduating in l953. In spite of the 3 years and 9 months between their ages, Bill and Bud remained very close, sharing friends and an interest in bowling which lasted throughout their adult lives, often bowling in the same leagues. Dinners in the Leimnetzer household were always lively with competitive discussion about whose favorite team, the Sox or the Cubs, was better. Bud always routed for the Cubs and was finally rewarded for his loyalty when the Cubs won the World Series a few years ago. In his middle years, he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball, golfing and serving as an usher at St. Terrence in Alsip, IL where he lived with his family.
In College, Bud majored in architectural drawing and engineering. He was drafted into the Army and following basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, was sent to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX where he was trained as a dental assistant and then transferred to the Army Base in Boston, MA where he served as an assistant to the Dentist on the base and also met Sheila, his wife of 20 years. Following his discharge from the Army, Bud and Sheila Foley moved back to Chicago where he began his career as an Electrical Estimator for various electrical contractors in Illinois and Indiana and continued to served in the Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant First Class. Bud had a very high IQ and was gifted in mathematics, which enabled him to excel in his career choice.
Bud's favorite hobby was oil painting and he demonstrated remarkable talent in this medium, often displaying and selling his painting at art fairs and receiving awards as well as obtaining private commissions.
Bud leaves behind two adored daughters to treasure his memory, Michelle (Mike) Stachowiak and Tricia (Tim) Foley-Beatty. He joins his son, Matthew Marlin Leimnetzer, in Heaven. Grampy Bud's memory will live on in his 10 grandchildren, Jack (late Janine), Drew (Colleen), Steven, Luke, Alexx, Hannah and Shauna Stachowiak, Chelsea, Sydnee Foley and Tatum Beatty, 4 great grandchildren, Legend, Jack Jr., Allison and Atticus Stachowiak. Bud also leaves behind his cherished sister, Melodee Leimnetzer as well as a niece, Kim (Bryan) Bialecki and two great nieces.
In 1988 Bud met Kyong Cha Menor (Kim) and second father to her daughters, Kimmie and Caroline Menor. Kim remained his faithful companion until his death. Throughout their relationship, they have shared a love of rescuing and helping injured wild animals, birds and cats. Bud was a kind, gentle caring man who was always quick to help someone in need.
